Greatings to EMYR2010 Sailors, 30 October 2009
 
Last year was the rallys 20th anniversary, during and after the rally the EMYR Rally Committee discussed whether the rally should continue or if it did what form it would take.

We took into account many factors.

1. After 20 years of rally organisation, we are tired, remember that all the committee undertake their roles voluntarily.
2. The marinas along the Turkish Agean coast are virtually full and it is increasingly more difficult to secure berths for the rally yachts.
3. In North Cyprus there is only the harbour and a small marina. These are both full and have very limited space.
4. ATCL Marina in Lebanon does not wish to be linked with an Israeli Port and hard to convince the authorities otherwise.

The good news is that despite the difficulties that we may encounter is that we have decided to continue for 2010 at least.

The rally will start from Istanbul as usual our commodore Teoman Arsay will lead the first legs on his yach SYMat and Dave and Kath on SYMashona will join somewhere along route maybe Ayval?k or Çe?me.

We have an agreement as well from the new Do?u? Marina at Didim to accomodate rally yachts.
 
Attached is the provisional programme which may change depending on the replies from the ports and marinas.

1.    We may not be able find berths in N.Cyprus, and the Girne visit might be canceled, instead we may visit Magosa Harbour,
2.    We may not be welcomed to Lebanon because of the rallys route includes Israel and we may sail from Syria to Famagusta and to Haifa bu we believe our friends in Lebanon will welcome the rally to Jounieh as last 15 years.
 
There are two participants lists and the main list with 89 yachts is attached. Waiting list can not be announced at this stage. We know from our past years experinces, that many of the applications on the main and waiting lists will be cancelled.  

Last year we have received many very late withdrawls that meant that was too late for boats on the waiting list to take up those places.

To hopefully prevent the same thing happening this year we asking you complete the online (https://www.emyr.org/emyrccpyform.php) credit card payment form for 150 Euro per yacht which will be deducted from your cost sharing fee payment. This amount is non refundable except the EMYR Committee cancels the rally.
 
The committee will expect your entry confirmation with 150 Euro non refundable deposit credit card payment form until 10th November 2009. Those yachts not confirming by that date will be deleted from the main list. Depending on the confirmed participants number on the main list the EMYR Committe will send the second e-mail to the yachts on the waiting list with a request for confirmation and deposit payment. They will then move on to the main list.

Please inform by e-mail your participitions and the deposit payment. The committee’s decision will remain final.
 
The EMYR November newsletter will be announced on the first week of November.
