EASTERN MEDITERRANEAN YACHT RALLY

Subject : Starting ports.

Dear participants, This year we have a problem in some of the ports as to how many boats they can receive.

One of the objectives of the rally over the past 19 years was to promote harbours and marinas in the East Mediterranean and we unfortunately have now become a victim of our own success. The marinas on the Turkish coast have become so popular with wintering boats that they just don’t have the capacity to receive the entire rally fleet.

Coupled with the size of Mureftte, Gokceada, and Bozcaada we have big problem at certain ports on the rally accommodating the number of boats who wish to start there. Bodrum, Marti, Gocek and Kemer Marinas don’t have enough places to accommodate many Rally boats.

Could we please ask you to confirm which starting port you intend to be at, we know that a lot of people change their mind either by weather, lateness in launching or just a change in circumstances?

Can we please ask you to do this by return of e-mail immediately? When we receive this information we may have to allocate your starting ports we are aware that this will not be convenient for some and we are afraid you will have to abide by the committees decision as we have no other option. We are continually working on the programme and we will keep you up to date as and when we change or alter things.

Please be patient
