Kemer Marina Turkey

Kekova to Finike

Good Morning

I have been trying to complete this since we arrived in Kemer but believe me we have just been so busy.

An early start (well not that early we had only 18 miles to go) from Kekova mint we could be in Finike early to arrange the arrival of the rally boats.

It was a fairly easy passage little or no wind we were into Finike in just under three hours.

Finike is a Setur marina and has hosted the EMYR for many years.

Finike is the centre of the citrus growing area as well as been a holiday town.

It has a very good market and a wide range of other shops.

Tuncay Ozses is the marina manager and we got to know him well last year so it was great to be back.

Tuncay moved to Finike from Fenerbahce in Istanbul now just over a year ago and is enjoying his time here especially as he has bought his own boat.

Our arrival went really well Kath and I sitting on the breakwater calling the boats in (thanks John Crystal Venture, Kevin Sunset Sam and David Parroo for the beers.

We worked closely with Ismail and Tuncay and we soon had the boats safely tucked up.

A word of praise is needed here for the marina staff they were so helpful efficient and professional.

The next day a large party went off to visit Demre and the surrounding area reports back were good and they said the lunch was excellent.

At lunchtime a large halo appeared around the sun much discussion ensued, this is not a common phenomenon the reasons ranged from Aliens to a harbourer of bad weather none appeared but it was an interesting couple of hours.

Our cocktail party stretched into the night with dancing and the consumption of much wine.

We enjoyed our stay at Finike and thank again Tuncay and all his staff for looking after us so well.

Dave, Kath and Tilly

(Tilly had an argument here with one of the local cats and came off second best, despite having a nasty bite on here leg resulting in a visit to the vet she has made a full recovery)
